Amara Gold Hotel

It’s cheap and clean, and the workers are friendly and helpful. They speak only a little English, but you can get by. The showers were hot, breakfast was decent, and laundry is available for a reasonable price. It’s not a five-star hotel, but I’d come back next time I’m in Bago.

Getting into town or heading out to places like Yangon was easy. My friends stayed here for one day and two nights, and the room price was reasonable with breakfast included. We weren’t very satisfied with the breakfast, though. For the price, the hotel and service were good.

The rooms are really neat, and they provide daily room service. It’s easy to get to, and the receptionist helped me a lot. Breakfast is mostly suited to local Myanmar tastes, though they also have bread, jam, and seasonal fruit. It’s a budget hotel.

For this price range, the breakfast is decent, and you can get free water or rent a bicycle. There are flowers in the garden and outdoor seating at the front. The rooms come in smaller and larger sizes, and the air-con is strong. It’s one of the least expensive places in Bago, which comes with some drawbacks since accommodation in Myanmar costs more than in other Southeast Asian countries. Still, the rooms are acceptable. It’s about 150 meters from the main road, so traffic noise is minimal, and one of the managers or owners speaks good English.
