Hotel Dawei

The worst part was the service. Nobody seemed to know what was going on, and hardly anyone could speak even broken English. The WiFi was terrible too, with no signal in the room and only some around the lobby and restaurant. It’s sad to see a hotel with some historic buildings being let down by poor management. With good management, I think it could be one of the area’s most memorable three-star hotels. The room itself was nice, with a sturdy bed and the usual amenities, and the bathroom had a rain shower. The pool was nice and the gym was okay. Breakfast was quite good, sometimes buffet style when there were enough guests.

The grounds are lovely, especially the huge tree that gives shade from the sweltering sun. Although the hotel sits by a main road, Dawei traffic is light, and the rooms are set farther back, so it’s quiet. I’ve stayed here several times since 2018, and it’s one of the two places I usually stay overnight in Dawei. The rooms are modern and comfortable, the pool is great, and the restaurant and breakfast are good for lunch and dinner too. The massage service wasn’t operating during my latest visit, but hopefully it will be available in future. I’d be glad to stay again on another trip. Hope everything gets back to normal soon.

We stayed for 22 nights, and it felt like a home away from home. The hotel and its staff made our time in Myanmar even more special. Everything, from the room to the exercise room, dining room, and pool, was top notch. The staff were all kind, helpful, and attentive.

After the dusty trip down from the north, the large pool was a welcome sight. The hotel is clean and very nice, with spacious grounds and guarded parking and entrance. The food was good, and they bake their own bread every day. Staff were polite and everything worked well. I stayed here before crossing to Thailand.
