Aquarius Inn Inle Lake

After trekking in the mountains, the hot shower and the coziest blankets ever were such a treat. We were welcomed with tea and a delicious plate of fruit and nuts, and the place has a real home-away-from-home feel. The family's warmth came through in everything. The owner treats the staff so well that they seem genuinely happy at work. I'd never heard staff singing while they worked as often as I did at Aquarius. They helped with laundry, boat and bus tickets, money exchange and taxis, and WiFi and a delicious breakfast are included, with a full pot of coffee and tea per room. The garden and surroundings are tasteful, too. They exceeded our expectations. We can't recommend them enough. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

A nice garden full of flowers, with bits of what might be local quartz lying around, and pleasant spots outside to sit and chill. The staff were friendly and breakfast was great. Our room had a shower, toilet and sink, and the shower was warm. We had two separate beds, and the curtains don't give much privacy, but we're still enjoying our stay.

The shared spaces were lovely and breakfast was good. Our first night was in a superior room, which was really nice, with panoramic windows on three sides and mountain views. The next night in a standard room was a completely different story: dark, noisy and smelly, with a rock-hard bed. It felt long overdue for renovation. We found another hotel after that night. They kindly refunded us because they managed to rent the room to another unfortunate person. If you stay here, go for the superior room.

For this price, the place deserves more than five stars. The rooms are clean and the small garden is nicely decorated with antique things. There's a mini library with books from around the world, and they arrange bus and boat tickets for foreign guests. The staff speak good English, and you can choose the breakfast you want. It won't disappoint you or your wallet.
