Hotel Glory

The double room had its own small balcony and a comfortable bed. We got hot water for just one shower during our stay, then only cold water. There were frequent power cuts, which got frustrating. Breakfast was pretty standard, and the restaurant menu was quite expensive. The main man at reception was helpful. This place has potential, but it needs some care.

The hostel is well situated, next to a nice night market, good and very cheap local restaurants, and a lake with a wonderful sunrise. The room was okay and clean, with a good mattress, though hot water wasn’t reliable. Staff were good. Breakfast was buffet style, but lots of items were often empty and you had to ask staff to refill them. We saw some strange foreign guests with bad habits who were especially hungry and literally jumped on the food, making it look like the third world war. I assume the staff were overwhelmed in that situation, so I don’t blame them.

It’s close to government offices and the night market, and the staff are super friendly and willing to help. Breakfast was okay if you’re not picky, since there were very few options. I was disappointed to find stains on the pillow and bedsheet, though the rest of the room was fine.

The rooms are pretty good for the price, and the location is okay. It’s very close to Kan Thar Yar night market, so you can try local street food with a breeze coming off the lake. We were uncomfortable with the customer service, though. The receptionist didn’t tell us about the extra 50% early check-in charge when we arrived around 4:30 a.m. We only found out just before checking out the next day. If we’d known, we wouldn’t have checked in until evening, since we left the hotel 30 minutes after checking in to go to Zwe Ka Bin Mountain. Ask thoroughly about the terms and conditions before confirming. If you’re okay with that, I truly recommend this hotel.
