The garden is spacious and clean, and it's a pleasant place to walk or jog. The hotel itself has an old-fashioned but attractive design. Its location also makes it easy to get around Katha, and it's one of the best hotels in Katha, Kachin State, Myanmar.
We stayed for two nights, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and very nice, with enough space even though it wasn't large. The hotel is about 400 meters from the busy town center, market and pier. Breakfast was good, and they packed some for our 5 a.m. express ferry to Mandalay. The hotel drove us to the ferry, and the driver insisted on refusing a tip, saying he was just doing his job.
The tropical garden was lovely for relaxing, reading, or just hanging out during the day. I had a wonderful three-night stay at Hotel Katha, and the staff were very helpful and almost overwhelmingly friendly. Ko Thet, the manager, was especially great. He professionally arranged onward tickets and hotel reservations around my individual needs. I loved it and highly recommend the place. Karin Anna from Germany
They helped me sort out onward travel, pointed me toward local places of interest, and even gave me a motorcycle lift to the 5am ferry to Mandalay. I also got a decent mountain bike through them for under 2USD a day. The employees were efficient and caring, breakfast was fine, and the AC is strong. The hotel is well located, under a minute from George Orwell's house. I can't recommend it enough.
The market place is only about a five-minute walk away. The hotel is small, but there's enough space, and it was clean. Staff were helpful. Breakfast was just ok, with a limited menu. It's quite ok to stay here, though I can't compare it with other hotels in Katha.
