We really liked the calm atmosphere at Celia Hostel. It’s not a party hostel, which suited me, and our basic room was very clean. My boyfriend and I had a great stay, with super kind, helpful staff. Breakfast came with rice, lettuce, and tomato, plus self-serve fresh juice and coffee. You can also rent bikes for under $2 USD for the whole day.

I stayed at Célia whenever I passed through Mandalay, and I’d happily recommend it. The hostel is in a quiet area away from the center’s traffic and noise, with nice restaurants nearby. The staff are amazing, friendly, and ready to help arrange anything. They rent scooters, which are handy for exploring the city, and there’s a lovely buffet breakfast to start the day.

The quiet road and greenery are pleasant, and the house has a homely breakfast and reception area. Cappuccino and latte cost 2000 kyats, about the same as at some nearby cafes. It’s a three-storey private house turned into a hostel, with small rooms and no lift. Shoes aren’t allowed upstairs, and you’ll need to carry luggage up. The narrow metal stairs to the top floor hurt the soles of my feet. I wouldn’t recommend it for older people with sore knees or feet.

Even though we had to check out early and our 🚌 wasn’t leaving until nighttime, the Celia team let us stay longer and looked after our safety. We’re so grateful to them. The staff were very kind, and our time there was the most amazing part of our trip in Myanmar 😍. If you’re coming to Mandalay, stay here. I’m sure you won’t be disappointed 💪🏻😘
