Tiger One Hotel

The breakfast was the best we had during two weeks in Myanmar, better even than at some so-called four-star hotels. There was plenty of street life around the hotel, and the receptionist spoke very well. Our twin room was a good size, though its only view was a wall. Most things worked, except the TV only had local channels. I'd stay here again when we return to Mandalay.

The location was handy, near a nice restaurant and the Chinese night-market, and the staff were warm and extremely helpful. Breakfast had Myanmar-style dishes and sweets, plus toast and marmalade. The chef even gave us a three-hour workshop on traditional Myanmar cooking.

The staff were the highlight, professional, welcoming, friendly, and so helpful. We had to leave at 3:30 AM for the train to see the viaduct, and they packed fruit, sandwiches, and a boiled egg for each of us. When we left at the same time another day for the Mahamuni pagoda ceremony, they offered to do it again, but we planned to return to sleep, so couldn't accept. The room itself was basic, but the service was well beyond what I expected from a budget hotel. The breakfast buffet, full of local food, was the best we've had. Bikes are free to rent; Wi-Fi worked, though it was a bit slow, and the TV had international movies. The air conditioning took a little figuring out. I'll definitely come back if I'm ever in Mandalay. Thanks for the service!

It was a nice, clean hotel and good value for the money. The staff were friendly and very helpful, even making me a breakfast box when I left early. Breakfast was good, too. The railway is within walking distance, and there's a food market about five minutes away on foot. Wi-Fi was very slow much of the time.
