The Hotel @ Tharabar Gate

The peaceful feel of the garden and the care put into its landscaping stood out, and the pool area was fantastic. From the moment I arrived, the staff greeted me with warm smiles and excellent service. My stay at The Hotel @ Tharabargate exceeded expectations and was memorable for its comfort, luxury, and top-notch hospitality. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway.

I stayed two days, and the only real drawback was that the Wi-Fi wasn’t very fast. The design inside is spectacular, and the hotel is conveniently located. The pool is for hotel guests, with a lovely garden and great atmosphere. The restaurant serves tasty food, though it’s expensive but worth it, and is open from 6am to 9:30pm. The breakfast buffet was amazing, with a good range of foods and snacks, including juice and coffee.

The F&B team, especially Ko Kin Tu and the dining staff, were thoughtful and accommodated everyone’s dietary preferences with choices the kids enjoyed too. Ms. Nila, the front desk, and welcome staff made our family feel at home from the moment we arrived. The service throughout was outstanding and warm. We loved the beautiful pool and dining area, and the spa was great too. Our spacious, charming room combined Bagan heritage with modern comforts. The Hotel at Tharabar Gate is a quaint property right at the edge of the old city, with easy access to the main sights. Our family had an incredible, relaxing stay, with a lovely mix of cultural atmosphere and comfort.

The spa was a shame, as it closes at 5pm, so it’s shut by the time you return from a full day of sightseeing. Otherwise, this was an excellent choice for Bagan. It’s in the middle of the sightseeing area, with small shops and restaurants nearby, and tuk tuks available out front. The grounds are beautiful, with a well-kept pool and comfortable loungers. The restaurant and bar are open all day, serving a very nice breakfast, good coffee, juices, smoothies, drinks, and snacks, plus lunch and dinner. Lattes and similar coffees cost a little extra. The staff were friendly, courteous, and professional. My room was a bit dated, but clean and spacious, with a very comfortable bed, lots of storage, and extra pillows available if you ask. The AC was old and slow but worked okay. When the power went out, the hotel generator came on quickly, including at night, so it wasn’t a problem.
