Tha Ha Zar Ta Hotel

The WiFi was free, fast, and steady, and breakfast was good, with the option to have it brought to my room. Staff were reliable and helped with everyday needs. They arranged a bus or taxi to Mandalay without commission, gave me a wake-up call so I wouldn't miss breakfast, and even offered free lunch when I was leaving. They also let me pay less since I was only using one bed in a triple room. After I left some belongings behind by mistake, they arranged to send them to my new hotel in Mandalay that same day. The room and bathroom were very clean. Hot water wasn't always available, though that was okay and may have been down to me not handling it right. I'd stay again :)

I booked a dorm, but ended up with a king-size double bed and a single bed all to myself. It was quiet and comfortable, with water and free toiletries. Breakfast came to the room, and the portions were so generous I didn't need lunch. I chose the Myanmar breakfast each time: coffee, juice, fruit, rice, egg, chickpea mix, peanuts with tiny crunchy salted fish, dried little shrimp, fried samosas, and two small steamed buns. They'll lend you a bicycle for free if you ask. They also insisted on arranging a motorbike taxi to the train station at no cost. The only thing that might bother some people is that the bathrooms are downstairs. I didn't mind.

The WiFi was the fastest we'd had in three weeks in Myanmar. Breakfast was plentiful and good, and the staff were friendly. You can use bikes for free, but the motorbike rental cost 15,000 a day, which seemed expensive since other places are cheaper. The rooms look old-fashioned, but they're clean. 🤙

The Christmas rooftop party was a lovely gesture and made the stay pleasant in the end. The place itself was clean, and they offer free pickup and dropoff at the train station, plus a bicycle if you stay more than one night. WiFi was unreliable, but fast when it worked. Breakfast was disappointing both mornings. Although they said it was available from 7, we waited 40 minutes, then got very little food. We repeatedly said we were vegan, tatalo in Burmese, but they served us meat, butter, and bread made with milk. The reception staff weren't much help, mostly saying yes without doing much. The party is why I didn't give it one star.
