Grand Mercure Yangon Golden Empire

The hotel's function hall was a fun venue for a seminar on women's empowerment that I attended with my PH colleagues. The atmosphere felt inviting wherever we went. I hope I can make time to stay at the hotel soon.

I expected hospitality worthy of a 4.5-star hotel, but this fell far short. We waited over two hours to check in, and the room's A/C wasn't working properly. We told reception, but nobody fixed it for more than three hours, and they didn't seem to care about the inconvenience. The hallway had no A/C either. I couldn't believe this hotel was part of Accor Group. I wouldn't recommend staying here after COVID-19 either.

The Wi-Fi barely worked, and the air conditioning was either freezing or turned off. Getting anything done at reception was painfully slow. I had to remind them to return my passport and documents, and even the card machines were unreliable. During my Test & Go quarantine stay, the food was awful, with no choice and stale fruit. If you got hungry at 9 pm, there was nothing available, and even salt and pepper took 20 minutes of chasing. I couldn't find a single thing to like here, and I wouldn't stay again.

We had a great time here with friends. There are different areas to sit and enjoy food and drinks, and the setup gives the place a lovely feel. The service and food were both great, and it’s a really friendly spot to hang out.
