Starlight Resort

The beaches are worth the motorbike trip, and Banana Mountain Monastery is an impressive Buddhist monument reaching into the sky. If you go in the morning, ask about joining the monastery staff for a tasty vegetarian meal. Another fun outing is a river boat to a remote swimming spot where two rivers meet, with a Buddhist temple nearby. Riverside restaurants serve refreshing coconuts, too. You can rent a motorcycle or arrange a private car and driver, and David and Winny can help set up tours. A local guide usually shows you more than you'd find by yourself, and hiring one supports a local family. Starlight resort is easily the best place to stay in the area. David, Winny, and their daughter Emma are lovely hosts, and they do their best to make a stay memorable. The resort is still being finished, so not everything is perfect yet. The rooms are comfortable and well equipped, and there's a nice breakfast and a range of meals.

I only stayed one night. The staff were kind and behaved well, but the service fell below average. The room was small, and the bed and curtains were messy. The bathroom was very dirty, and a few taps and electrical items weren't working properly. These issues need to be fixed.

Quiet and nicely looked after by David and Winnie. The food is good, and you can rent motorbikes there to explore.

For a trip from Mawlamyine to Dawei, this is a really convenient place to stop. A very nice couple run the hotel, and it's the best choice in Ye.
