Buudai Hotel

The desk clerk was able to call a taxi for me to visit Amarbayasgalant Monastery the next day, and she was very helpful. My first question about whether anyone spoke English got a rather chilly response, though. I’d arrived by train from the Gobi desert and wanted somewhere comfortable to rest. The single room cost 195K and had a comfortable bed. They also let me have breakfast at 7:30am, even though it usually starts at 8am. Enkhtaivan, the driver they arranged, drove very well. I recommend him.

The hotel was clean and quiet, but I wouldn’t take room 305. WiFi worked outside the room, then dropped as soon as I went in, even when I tried using the room’s restroom. I asked to move, but staff said there were no rooms free, though the hotel didn’t look very busy.

It took about 8-10 minutes by car from the train station. Our twin room was smaller than I’d expected, but it was comfortable. There wasn’t much lighting, with no ceiling light, and the hair dryer was broken, so I asked for another one. Staff at reception and around the hotel didn’t speak English, which meant I had to rely on Google Translator to communicate.

The restaurant was good, with tasty food at affordable prices. The hotel itself has a cosy interior, and housekeeping was well organised. They kept the room neat and clean every day.
