Jardim Secreto was a highlight for me, a peaceful garden with the feel of a European palace courtyard and one of the resort’s most photogenic spots. We also had excellent meals: a wide-ranging breakfast at The Grand Buffet and a refined Michelin-starred Cantonese dinner at Palace Garden. Our Junior Suite had plenty of space, warm lighting, lovely details, and views across Cotai and the resort gardens. The whole property felt calm as well as luxurious, with attentive service and elegant wellness facilities. Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau is visually striking, with its Chinoiserie-inspired design alongside modern comforts. A memorable Macau stay.

The breakfast was fabulous, at an international standard. I didn’t try the other restaurants. The hotel may be away from the center, but that means fewer crowds, and the many free shuttles to around 10 locations more than make up for it. For Saint Paul’s, take the shuttle to Grand Lisboa and walk from there. Zip City Macau is opposite one of the entrances, too. We got a beautiful garden view, and the room was bright with the curtains open, spacious for its class, and had high ceilings. The bed and pillows were easy to fall asleep on. Staff were courteous and professional. We stayed three nights, and the room was tidied twice a day without us asking. It seemed to happen whenever we went out, so it never got in our way. Great value, especially compared with what you can get in HK. I really couldn’t find fault with the hotel.

The rooftop garden on Level 3 is beautifully laid out and worth a visit. There’s also a large shopping area on Level 2, a supermarket, and plenty of places to eat, including a food court with mostly local and Asian dishes. Free shuttles serve most popular spots, and the hotel is handy for the airport and Ferry Terminal, even though it’s a bit far from the main city. Our room was clean, the bed very comfortable, and the huge bathroom had all the amenities we needed. The shower pressure was great. The air-conditioning hummed a little, but it cooled the room well enough that it didn’t bother us. I don’t gamble, but still had a very pleasant stay at this massive Taipa hotel. Highly recommended.

The free shuttle made getting around convenient, and my partner and I really enjoyed our garden view room. For the luxury on offer, I’d say it’s affordable. The only trouble was finding our room in such a massive place.

I stayed at Lisboeta Macau and asked the front desk politely for a wake-up call. They refused and told me to set an alarm myself. I found that dismissive and humiliating. A wake-up call is a basic hotel service, and I wasn’t asking for anything unusual. As a 28-year-old independent woman, I didn’t check into a five-star hotel to be lectured condescendingly about setting an alarm. I’m a multilingual Canadian guest, and I seriously suspect I may have been treated differently because I spoke Mandarin Chinese at the desk. I want the hotel to investigate whether that played a part. I’ve attached my hotel confirmation in Chinese and English for reference. Please send me a formal written apology, or have the manager contact me directly with a concrete solution. I also expect a clear explanation of why the request was refused, whether the staff member followed service standards, whether possible differential treatment was investigated, and what corrective steps will prevent this happening to future guests. For a hotel claiming this standard, the service was deeply disappointing. Please escalate the complaint to management and handle it formally instead of dismissing it as a minor issue. I look forward to a written response. Sincerely, Selina Cui
