Hanamitsu Hotel & Spa

The location made it easy to explore the city, with public transport, attractions, restaurants, and supermarkets all easy to reach. The hotel was exceptionally clean and well maintained, and the friendly, attentive staff made our stay comfortable.

The hotel's best feature is its location in the heart of Garapan. Most shops and restaurants are within walking distance, and Umibozu, a Japanese restaurant right next door, serves great food and is highly recommended. The hotel also has a spa on the first floor, though we didn't use it. Our stay itself was very disappointing. Parking is limited, the rooms are old and dated, and the first room we were given was in awful condition. There was hair on the toilet seat, the shower was dirty, and the only bathroom amenities were toothbrushes. The TV didn't work, the closet doors stuck, and the bathroom door wouldn't latch or lock properly. Staff kindly let us switch rooms right away, but it took inspecting a third room before we found one that was somewhat decent. The beds were very uncomfortable. We had hot water the first night, then none at all the next day. We also woke up to power outages on the following two mornings, and the hotel has no backup generator. There's no elevator, so expect to carry your things up the stairs. I tried to disregard the bad reviews online, but unfortunately they were true.

I’m writing this while I’m still here, and something that looks like a bug is crawling on my pillow. The room is very old, the Wi-Fi connection is awful, there are lots of flies, and the place gets noisy easily. The toilet is super messy, with spider webs everywhere. There’s no shampoo, body wash, or face towel. I know it costs less than other places, but it didn’t feel cheap to me. It’s convenient for getting to the shops, but there’s no elevator, so think twice if you have big luggage. This was a nightmare. I’ll never come back. Don’t come here. Go to another hotel and spend your money on a good holiday. Please don’t waste it. To Koreans: Don’t come. Cancel right now and go somewhere else, please.

I haven’t stayed at the hotel, but I did visit the spa. It was private and clean, with a lockable drawer for keeping your belongings secure. They played relaxing music during the massage, and you could choose the style. There was also a private shower to use before getting dressed.
