I spent a week at this guest house in Saipan with my wife after finding the SMD website. I was skeptical at first, but I came away glad we chose it. The price was reasonable, and the scuba diving through Saipan Marine Dive felt worth it. Steve planned engaging dives with plenty of time actually diving. I’ve often felt other dives involved a lot of waiting before the main part, but that wasn’t the case here. My wife was new to scuba diving, while I had dived before. Steve was patient and friendly, guiding us through each step in a calm way. His English may not be very fluent, but he was eager to help, and we had no trouble communicating. I have no complaints about Steve, though expectations matter. This isn’t a hotel, and it won’t suit someone looking for an extravagant experience. It’s more for people who want an independent stay with a home-like feel. I’m not keen on hotels with their restrictions and samey, manufactured atmosphere, which is why I liked this place.

The private house has the basic amenities, and our whole family had an enjoyable visit. The coach was very patient and helpful. Keep in mind this is a private house rather than a hotel. I recommend it for families considering a stay here.

We did three dives, two at Laulau and one at Grotto. The coach was patient, flexible, and great. Prices were reasonable, and they took lots of pictures without rushing the dives.
