Surfrider Resort Hotel

The Surfrider is dangerous to your vacation plans. You book a few nights and next thing you know, you’re looking at beachfront property and searching for a career in hammock testing. The staff are so nice I wondered if they were running for office, and the nearby food is good enough to wreck my summer body goals. The pool practically high-fives the Pacific Ocean, and the view makes my screensaver look criminally bad. Stay here only if you’re okay with comparing every future vacation to the Surfrider.

The beach access was hard to beat: white sand, a secluded feel, and the best sunrises and sunsets of our trip. Great Harvest Bakery and Surf Restaurant are downstairs, and we walked down for breakfast and dinner several times. The rooms were spacious, very clean, and had nice touches, and I was impressed by the amenities. Free laundry was especially handy, with fairly new washers and dryers in a clean laundry room. There’s decent gym equipment too, which surprised us for a smaller hotel. Front desk and housekeeping were amazing, always greeting us and checking that we were doing okay. Great value, and we’d stay again.

I’ve stayed here several times, and the rooms are always clean. The mattress topper makes the bed really comfortable, and the front desk staff are always polite. The beach is right there, and Great Harvest Bakery is downstairs. I usually book a room and car package, then Hertz picks me up at the commuter airport. Very convenient!

I booked a promo with a rental car and breakfast, and picked up the car from Hertz within minutes of leaving the airport customs area. The hotel is in a quiet spot, a little off the beaten path and just steps from a sandy beach. Friendly staff greeted me at arrival and checked me in. My room was clean and seemed newly renovated, with cold, comfortable AC. I ended the first day with dinner at the in-house Surf Club restaurant and a great sunset.
