Urban Hotel Nouakchott

The staff really made this hotel for me. Everyone I met was patient, kind, and helpful, and even with the language barrier we managed to communicate. I also left my car safely at the hotel while I went to Zouérat for a few days, and it was just as I’d left it when I returned. After driving all day and night from Senegal, I arrived around 1 a.m. with a last minute reservation made despite barely having signal on the road. They checked me in without hesitation. They also took my American Visa Card, which was a relief since I had very little local cash left after some creative fuel solutions when the N2 gas stations were closed. The hotel is a few minutes from the city center and a short drive from most places. My suite was spacious, clean, and comfortable, with a fridge and complimentary water. The hot water runs out fairly fast, so keep showers short, and the internet can be choppy, but neither was a deal breaker. Breakfast was simple and satisfying, with fresh bread and pastries, a boiled egg, and tea or coffee. Good amenities, warm service, and great value. I liked the place enough to stay three different nights.
