Corto Maltese Guest House

The location was convenient, with quick access around the city and to the nearby ferry, but there was quite a lot of noise. Bathrooms weren’t as promised: ours wasn’t in the room, but on another floor, and other people were using it too. Breakfast starts at 8, so if you want to sleep in, it’ll be cold.

The good part was the transport: the bus stop is just around the corner, making it easy to get to Valletta or other cities in Malta. But there were several problems during our week. Our room wasn’t cleaned even once, and room 2 had mould stains on the floor. The street noise was very loud, and we could hear everything happening in the hotel, including the owner singing at 6 a.m. and the noise of breakfast being prepared. Breakfast was basic, mostly pastries, and served at 8. If you’re not a morning person, you’d be eating it cold. The rooms didn’t match the pictures and were small. A few didn’t have private bathrooms; the bathroom was in the second-floor corridor, where people could just walk in because there was no lock.

They made us feel welcome, and the staff were very good. Thank you.

The friendly, accommodating staff made it feel like home. Thanks so much.
