La Reggia Seaview Guesthouse

Right beside the bay, with parking out front, this was an easy and pleasant place to stay. The owner was friendly, and our room was clean and nice. We were comfortable here.

We only spent one night here before moving on to St Paul’s bay, but I could happily have stayed a week. The room was spotless and excellent value, and the rooftop breakfast area had fantastic views across the bay. Breakfast was amazing, I had the full English, and the man in charge was attentive and gave us good advice on where to eat. He also gave us a really warm welcome. What a gem.

Marsaxlokk felt like a real Maltese village, with fewer tourists than other parts of Malta and no big hotel buildings. We especially liked that, along with the daily market and the larger Sunday market by the harbor. Our small, charming hotel looked right at home beside the harbor and still felt modern and new. We spent seven nights there and felt welcome the whole time. The owner was wonderfully hospitable, sitting with us after breakfast each day to share sightseeing information and help out. Our room was cleaned daily and was just the right size for a couple. Breakfast on the roof terrace came with a fantastic view and a choice of omelette, Continental or English breakfast, plus fresh orange juice, coffee and toast with jam. This is the kind of place I might look up on Booking in 2-3 years and wonder how I got such a good price. A real insider tip.

Our room was bright and comfortable, and they cleaned it every day. The balcony looked out over the bazaar, where there was a cafe in the evenings, but we weren't bothered by noise. The owner was great: he picked us up from the airport at 00:40, showed us around and was always in touch. A lovely place to stay, definitely recommended.
