Mercure St. Julian's Malta

My birthday stay at Mercure St. Julian’s Malta exceeded what I expected. The modern, luxurious design and relaxed atmosphere made a great impression, and my room was spacious, spotless, and very comfortable. The rooftop pool and terrace had stunning views over St. Julian’s. The staff were warm, professional, and attentive throughout, and the location was excellent, close to restaurants, nightlife, and the waterfront while still feeling peaceful. A handwritten birthday card and complimentary bottle of wine were waiting for me in my room. Paula delivered the surprise on behalf of hotel management, which made the thoughtful gesture even more memorable. Thank you to Paula and the whole Mercure St. Julian’s team for an unforgettable birthday getaway. I'd highly recommend the hotel and hope to return.

The staff were really nice and helpful, and the location is a big plus. It's near the main bus stop at Ross, with several lines, and there are lots of shops, restaurants, and cafes close by. The hotel is rated four stars in theory, but it felt quite different in reality. Its best days seem to be behind it, and some areas need renovating. Breakfast was okay, though the bread was low quality and the choices were rather limited and almost the same each day during our five-night stay. Construction on the street side started at 7am, so sleeping in wasn't possible. The sea-view side should be okay. I'd recommend it for 1-2 nights, no longer.

The welcome was warm and quick, and someone from reception even called after we got to the room to check everything was alright. We stayed in the Privilege Suit, Room 1001, the top-floor upgrade. Only two were available in the whole hotel, so I booked well ahead. There were luxury treats and a handwritten card waiting for us, and the views looked just like the website photos. It felt more like a spacious apartment, with a small living room, separate bedroom, bathroom, and a huge balcony stretching along almost the whole room. The best part was the big bath with its city lights and sea view. The price was very reasonable for us coming from the UK, where it would have bought a very basic room. Thanks to the team for making us feel so welcome. ❤️🫶 We’ll stay again.

The room was clean and a decent size, and the shower had good pressure. There was free parking, though it was narrow. Breakfast choices were limited, and staff were still eating from the buffet before service had finished. The kettle got dangerously hot. They had coffee and tea, but didn't restock the water bottles. WiFi in the room was weak, and the aircon only heated even though the room was already too warm.
