We slept really well in a lovely, quiet room with a comfortable bed. Getting in was easy too: we were sent a door code for our arrival. We’d originally booked through Lastminute.com, but our first hotel wasn’t available and Marea Boutique Hotels was offered as a replacement. We were very happy with the change. Breakfast was a bit repetitive, but perfectly fine for a short stay, and the staff were friendly and helpful. It’d be useful to have a dishcloth to dry the plates, cutlery and cups provided in the room. The hotel is a 10-15 minute walk from the Sliema Promenade, with plenty of small shops nearby. From the airport on the TD3 bus, it’s best to get off at Ferries 3, though Torri or Chalet are convenient too. Busy Bee café or Marks & Spencer are useful landmarks from the promenade. We bought a 4-day bus pass with Tallinja at the airport, which worked well. The Dmiche stop for the local 21 route is a four-minute walk away, though we weren’t entirely sure of the full route. All in all, a comfortable, pleasant stay.

The modern rooms are large and nicely renovated, with good air-conditioning. Ours came with plates, glasses, a decent mini fridge and a microwave. I only missed having a balcony. Restaurants and beaches are about a 10-minute walk away.

Hello Maria Hotel, Is it really acceptable to be woken at 7:30 by that horrible noise? We booked four days and never expected to have to put up with those awful sounds in our room. We already contacted the staff, but nobody did anything. I want a clear explanation. Do you think this is normal? I’m on vacation and don’t want to wake up like this every morning!

The room was nice, well maintained and well equipped, and I have no complaints. Check-in and checkout were almost entirely automatic, using just the code provided with the reservation. There was even a sound system that played in the bathroom, so we could cast music to the TV and hear it throughout the room. Room service came every day without any issues.

Our room was huge, nicely decorated, very clean and had good amenities. The reception isn’t staffed all the time, but they provide entry codes, which made getting in easy. It was a great base for exploring Malta. Bolts are affordable, so getting around was easy.
