Mr. Todd Hotel

The location is a real plus if you want to be close to Valletta and Sliema's amenities, and the hotel looks recently renovated. Our room was spacious, but it fell well short of what it should have been. There was black mould around the window and in the shower, plus damp on the bedroom ceiling. The thin mattress squeaked, the springs were easy to feel, and it was wider than the bed frame, hanging over the sides. The white cotton sheets were soft and cool, though we could hear nearby TVs and conversations. Room doors have alarms that sound when someone leaves a key in the slot; we were woken from 5am by other guests' alarms, thinking they were fire alarms. The entrance smelled of feet and old breakfast food day and night, and could use fragrance diffusers in the hallway. The front desk staff were friendly, but we were charged twice the hotel tax due for our stay. I didn't catch it when paying, and I'm sure the staff member was hoping we'd pay cash so he could pocket the difference. I didn't pay much for the room, but the mould, oversized squeaky mattress, loud TVs through the night and door alarms were inexcusable and left a bad impression. Good value for the location, but the stay was far from desirable.
