Clean and good, though a bit cramped. Just a normal place.

Nothing on Booking.com suggested we’d be sleeping in a basement. I measured the room, and it was smaller than the listing said. The bathroom window couldn’t be opened because white foam was running down onto the glass. When I told reception, they only apologized. They didn’t offer to connect me with anyone, put my complaint in writing, or offer compensation. Even a small discount or an upgrade on a future booking would have been enough, but of course that won’t happen.

We were disappointed by the service, which was close to nonexistent, and by the poor hygiene that came with it. Staff never changed our sheets, towels, pillows, bedspreads or blankets during the week. I asked for two fresh towels once, and they left them in the room when we returned. We also requested extra toilet paper, but nobody responded, so we bought it ourselves. The curtains and blankets had several stains and marks of dirt. The room itself was fine and had air conditioning, a kettle, sink, cutlery, dish soap, bedside tables, a shower, a main window with sliding doors and a second bathroom window. There were several power outlets, a roomy closet with hangers, and a small table with chairs. My girlfriend and I are both Italian, and it was our first trip to Malta. We spent a week in Sliema, moving between beach resorts, and this room was very well located near supermarkets, port terminals, bars, pharmacies and restaurants. Even so, given the lack of service, we don’t think we’ll return to this property.
