Janice, the host, was very attentive. Thanks for the stay! A few practical things to know: tap water isn’t drinkable, but there are two water machines that get refilled regularly. You’re expected to take the trash out most mornings at 7 a.m., which may be unusual if you’re used to weekly collection. They also encourage running the AC at night to keep mosquitoes away, and discourage leaving windows open. The villa is in a lovely upscale neighborhood, an easy walk from St. Julian, and I rated it five stars for value, cleanliness, space, and location. It’s very clean and the rooms are generous, though it felt more like an upscale lodge or hostel than a luxury hotel. The kitchen had several fridges and freezers, plus a washing machine with useful short cycles. Bedrooms have their own AC units that aren’t temperature locked, but there’s no central HVAC. My room was dark enough for daytime naps, though not fully blackout. The bathroom was spotless and worked fine, but could use hooks, shower storage, toiletries, and dark towels for makeup removal. The pool was clean but deep everywhere, with no shallow area to stand in. Nearby construction noise, roughly 9:30 p.m. to 9:30 a.m., bothered my travel companions’ sleep, although it didn’t bother me. One tip: for Uber or Bolt, enter the hotel across the street as your destination, otherwise you may get dropped on the highway.

Janice was a kind, helpful host, and we had a great time at basecamp. The house has a nice pool and is well placed for shops, restaurants, and the city center. Highly recommend it!

The pool was lovely and really refreshing, and there’s free WiFi that works well. We had a group in Malta and found the place had everything we needed: lots of rooms and beds, several indoor and outdoor shared spaces, and a kitchen with three fridges, a freezer, and a dishwasher. If anything comes up or you have a question, you can call the number they provide and things get sorted quickly. Great place, we’ll come back! :)

Janice, the house manager, was fabulous: kind, patient, informative, and clearly cared about making sure we all had a good holiday. We were a group of eighteen in a beautiful, clean house. My son and I shared a room with our own shower and toilet, and the room’s AC was brilliant and much needed. The pool was spotless, and we enjoyed having dinner each night in the great outdoor space. The house felt so welcoming. Thank you very much 💓

Janice was the standout for us as the manager of Basecamp. She made early check-in possible for our group, took in the food we’d ordered from a local supermarket, and had it put away before we arrived. She checked in during the trip to see if we needed anything, then kept us updated after checkout until our deposit came back in full. Nothing seemed too much trouble. We were fourteen friends visiting Malta for four days in March 2023, looking for good value, a spot near the lively parts of the island, and easy access to the cultural center. The villa was clean and gave us a great base. We couldn’t be happier with the stay. Thanks, Basecamp and Janice.
