For an affordable stay with a bit of village life, Tarxien is a good choice, especially during festa week in May. Public transport also makes it easy to get to other tourist areas.

I stayed here as a student with Profitecla, and it was the worst place I’ve ever stayed. There was no hot water for showers, the bathrooms were constantly filthy, and the staff were very rude. I wouldn’t recommend it.

The people were awful, and there was always only cold water. Bowyer House was the worst place to stay in Malta!
