Valletta Kampnar City Living

The room was awful and not worth a single euro. Dead insects were on the walls, there was hair and stains on the dirty sheets and duvet, and the bathroom was highly unhygienic. Dust and hair had collected on the air fan too. We couldn't open the windows because a horrible smell, like sewage, was coming from outside. The entrance hall was musty as well. The room's location was the only good thing, but the stay ruined our whole trip.

We booked our room through booking 6 months ahead, but when we arrived at check-in time, there was another man lying on the bed. We asked him to come out so we could find out what had gone wrong, and discovered the hotel had double-booked it. He'd booked 2 weeks earlier on Airbnb. When I contacted customer service at the so-called hotel, they cancelled MY reservation, claiming it looked like I was the one who booked 2 weeks ago and that it wasn't their fault. NOONE came to speak to me. We were left on the street without a room, on the phone with booking customer service for 6 hours. WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE! I've stayed in dozens of hotels and never seen anything like it. Stay away from that place!

The only thing going for this place is the location. There was visible grime, dead bugs, black mold and drain flies in the room, and it smelled of sewage. Opening the windows didn't help. The smell was so strong that sleeping was nearly impossible and it gave me a headache. Luckily, we stayed only 1 night, but I'd very much recommend paying more for a better hotel. Only stay here if you plan to drop your bags and be out all day and all night. I'm hoping the owner or owners will give the place some TLC. If they invested in cleaning it, this could be a great spot in Valletta and get a lot of positive reviews.

We really enjoyed having the hotel to ourselves, and could make the most of the kitchen and its quiet atmosphere. The rooftop beside it is magnificent, with a nice view. Our room was pleasant and had a private bathroom, air-conditioning, soap, hand soap and a tiny hair-dryer. Before we arrived, I tried emailing and messaging the hotel on Facebook because our plane was landing at night, but got no reply. When we arrived, the listed phone number was no longer in service. Luckily, the Neckermann helpline reached the host for us. We waited on the street for 40 Minutes before getting codes to enter the hotel and room. There were a few issues: the TV didn't work, the floor wasn't very clean, and the water got colder after 15 minutes, which was awkward when showering one after the other. The kitchen had no dishwasher or hot water for washing dishes. If more than 4 rooms had been booked, the small fridge, tiny number of plates and just 2 cooking spots would have been a problem. It was fine with just us there.
