The Segond Hotel

The heated pool was the best part for us. The water was at a perfect temperature and made relaxing there a real pleasure. We spent two nights at Segond Hotel in Xaghra, Gozo, and chose it especially because our room came with a private heated pool. The room was spacious, clean, and well cared for, with a large fridge, plenty of towels, and complimentary water, tea, and coffee. The bathroom was roomy and thoughtfully designed, with accessibility features that could help guests with limited mobility. It's in a quiet residential neighbourhood, so the atmosphere is peaceful, though the views aren't remarkable. Parking took a little patience, but we were lucky enough to find a nearby space throughout our stay. Check-in is done online, giving the place a private, independent feel. We saw another guest run into a minor room-code problem, but staff were reachable by phone and sorted it quickly. Room slippers and bathrobes would be a nice addition for trips to and from the pool. With homes nearby, they'd also offer a little more comfort and modesty. It was a pleasant, restful visit, and I'd happily come back for that standout heated pool. Thanks to the team for a lovely stay in Gozo. I hope to visit again.

The suite was especially spacious, which was a nice surprise, and everything looked modern and beautifully presented. We had a very pleasant stay with the heated plunge pool. As described, it was heated. It's not large, but it was just right for sitting back and unwinding. The guest portal wasn't working properly while we were there, but the customer service team more than made up for it. They were incredibly quick and dependable, and handled every request promptly and efficiently. Breakfast was still very good, though a wider choice would be welcome, especially more egg options than just hard-boiled. We'd happily stay again.

We couldn't get help during our stay. The emergency number went unanswered, and the WhatsApp assistant wasn't useful. We made several professional attempts to contact management and share our concerns, but received no acknowledgment or reply. The room smelled strongly of damp, the sheets were dirty, and hair bands from previous guests were in the bathroom, suggesting it hadn't been cleaned properly. The plaster in the room was wet and dirty as well, and the outdoor area by the pool was unclean and poorly maintained. Breakfast was disappointing, with very little choice. By the time we arrived at 8:30 a.m., it was already half empty.

We spent four days here in a room with a plunge pool. The room was modern, clean, and very nice, and the AI chat was responsive and helpful whenever we needed it. Breakfast was the letdown, and not what you'd expect from a hotel like this. The choices were very limited. The croissants weren't fresh, the doughnuts looked like they came from Lidl, and there was toast but no butter. I asked because I couldn't believe it, and they confirmed there was none. Butter seems like a basic breakfast item. The peaches didn't seem fresh either, more like canned ones.
