Quaint Boutique Hotel Xewkija

The hotel is officially rated two stars, but my experience felt much closer to four-star quality. My room was very clean and spacious, with a big bed, desk, TV, AC, sofa, plastic ottoman, and even a rocking chair. There was a little nook with a kettle, bottled water, instant coffee, and tea. The AC provided both heating and cooling. The bathroom was large, with a roomy shower. A safe, iron, hairdryer, and personal scale were also provided, though I didn't test the scale. Check-in was handled remotely, and it worked well. My magnetic key card and instructions were waiting at reception, which is usually unattended. I needed a plug adapter, and they kindly had one ready for me. The hotel is on San Gwan Battista Square, right in front of the Church of St. John the Baptist. There were a few drawbacks in the room. The bed was only 190 cm long, too short for me, and the desk and drawers opposite it made the walkway narrow. There was plenty of room by the window, so moving them there could make the room feel more spacious. Internet was available but extremely slow, under 5/1 Mbit UL/DL. It was barely enough for email, and video calls weren't possible. Breakfast was served next door at Giovanni’s Kitchen & Lounge. The hotel instructions still mention Da Battista, which apparently no longer exists, and the sign on the door said “closed.” Breakfast was nothing special: coffee, tea, yogurt, one kind of ham and cheese, fruit, and an à la carte choice of eggs. The service there was very friendly.
