Ta Kullarina Farmhouse

The setting is lovely and the house could be nice, but it felt neglected and needs renovation. We booked three nights and left after the first. Since we were coming from Malta, I was able to find another place and move, but people arriving from abroad and relying on the listing photos could be in a difficult spot. There were serious problems inside: the sofa was broken and simply covered, which could hurt someone's back, the cupboards were dusty, and the beds shook so much they seemed liable to fall apart. The bathtub couldn't be used because the plug wouldn't close. The listing showed a gas BBQ, so we had brought meat for two days and a night, but there was no BBQ. The pool is lovely, but take care with small children because the entrance has no proper lock and even a cat could open the door and get into danger. It's a shame such a nice house in a wonderful location has been left like an abandoned place. I hope we'll find it in better shape next time. 🙏🏻🙏🏻

There were quite a few bees around, and I had some unpleasant experiences here.

Bring your own heaters. The farmhouse looks great, with rustic rooms, and was generally well kept. It's possibly one of the better places I've stayed in Gozo, but several issues pulled the rating down. The Airbnb listing said heating and air conditioning were included. There were AC units in all the bedrooms, but no remotes. When we called, a woman said a wire connecting all three units had developed a fault the day before. I asked for a heater in each room instead. She refused and said the quilts and spare quilts should be enough, as that's how they live at home. I don't care how they live at home; we were paying for something that was listed as included, so it should have been provided or replaced with an equivalent, especially in winter when it was 10 degrees that weekend. A man then came on the phone, rudely asked if there was a problem, and said they had no replacement heaters. He offered to bring just one for one of the three rooms. When I asked what the guests in the other two rooms were meant to do, he mumbled and then cut off the call. No heaters arrived the next day either. Other basics were missing too: kitchen towels and dishcloths, spare toilet rolls, working bulbs in some lights, especially in the guest bathrooms, and enough kitchen utensils. There was no hot water in the kitchen, hairdryer, or smoke detector, although the listing said those were provided. There was no hand soap in the WCs at first, but after we mentioned it when the person in charge came by, she brought some. We hadn't noticed the other missing items right away. It's a real pity because the place is nice and has a lot of potential, but the service is badly lacking. It could be a strong four star place if these problems were taken seriously and fixed.
