The room was filthy and badly kept, and the bathroom and toilet smelled and were dirty. There was no fridge, kettle, tea or coffee, and the safe was broken. We had to ask for a towel, soap and toilet paper. Even the paper was reused to refill an empty roll. The towel was old, torn and smelled bad. The pool water was murky, so we stayed away from it. We left straight after dinner because we couldn’t imagine spending even one night in that room. We were worried about catching something from the room or its things. Places rented by the hour have been cleaner. Anyone with self-respect would avoid staying here. This is not a hotel. It looks more like a low-end "pensionnat." They offer bed and breakfast or half board. We booked one night with half board, but check-in wasn’t until 16:30, which is quite late. At dinner there was no choice of food, just rice, chicken, lentils and salad. To be fair, the meal was okay. Half board cost Rs5900, and bed and breakfast was Rs4800. We’d left another hotel that same morning, where bed and breakfast was Rs2500 and the room had all the facilities: two sealed rolls of toilet paper, a new bottle of shower gel, everything very clean, a kettle, microwave, safe, sink, tea and coffee, plates and glasses, and fresh sheets every day. The place still has potential, but the owner should keep renting it as a pensionnat until the hotel is properly renovated. Don’t present it as a hotel on Marideal to make quick money from unsuspecting visitors. What impression would a tourist get of our beautiful Mauritius after staying here?

We went for lunch. The food was okay, but it was overpriced for what we got, and the plates and utensils were dirty and gross. The atmosphere was horrible, with a "pensionnat" feel, and the waiters were rude. The toilets smelled and were dirty too. The koi fish in the ponds seemed to be living in awful conditions. I wouldn’t recommend it. You can get better food and service elsewhere for the same price.

I’d put it around 5/10. The service was okay, but cleanliness needs attention, and the compound and pool need a lot of renovation.

We absolutely loved it. Ruben hosted us and also owns a restaurant in Chameral. The Mauritian cuisine at both places was superb.

It feels more like a guest house and seems abandoned. The service was the worst, and I wouldn’t go back.
