Sands Suites Resort & Spa

The dinners were excellent every evening, and we had a great time on the hotel’s Chamarel tour with its guide and driver. We drove ourselves to Port Louis, which gave us the flexibility we wanted. The pool and relaxation spaces were lovely for unwinding, the restaurant lunches were very good, and it was easy to book a boat for the great snorkeling nearby. We stayed for almost a week near Flic-en-Flac and felt at home in the beautiful hotel. The staff were welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was less impressive than dinner: the juices and bread could be better, and we’d have liked more local choices. There were also quite a few small bugs in our room despite cleaning twice a day. We still had a strong five-star stay and would come back, though there’s room to improve.

The sunsets were breathtaking, and the pool gave us lovely views of Tamarin mountain and Le Morne. There were plenty of ways to spend time, from darts and petanque to water sports. The buffet won me over, even though I’m not usually keen on buffets: the cuisine changed each evening and the food was so good. We stayed five days, and the staff were warm and social, making us feel at home. The rooms were comfortable and quiet at night. Sad to leave today, but we’ll definitely return. We’ve loved all the little surprises, like a scented cold cloth by the pool and a sample massage that we enjoyed so much we booked a full one. It exceeded expectations. We also tried snorkeling, pedal boats, and the excellent water aerobics, though there were other activities we were too lazy to do. The staff were gracious and helpful, the views and sunsets stunning, and the food outstanding. We enjoyed the live Indian music at the themed restaurant evening and the saxophone jazz group too. Sands keeps raising the bar, and we’ll be sad to leave this peaceful little paradise. Thanks to everyone for such a memorable holiday.

After a problem with our first room on the first night, the staff turned things around. Manager Sonny (Sunny) met us personally, apologized, and moved us to a beautiful upgraded room. He also arranged a private romantic dinner on the beach, which made us feel valued. The new room was quiet and spacious, with gorgeous views and honeymoon decorations. This was our honeymoon at Sands Suites, and the resort’s setting was lovely, with a beautiful beach, unreal views, plenty of loungers, convenient towel service, and a gorgeous pool. The food was great, even for a picky eater like me. Breakfast was my favorite, and dinner had a different theme each night. We also enjoyed Pink Peppercorn and Dolphin Bar. Everyone we met was friendly and helpful. I had a heavenly massage at their sister property, Maradiva. Once we changed rooms, the stay felt perfect. We’d absolutely return, and next time we’d choose a different room category from the start.
