Sous le Badamier Boutique Hotel & Spa

We spent a week at Sous Le Badamier guest house and had a lovely, relaxing holiday in Grand Bai. Jean Pierre was so attentive, as though we were personal friends, and all his staff were polite, attentive, and eager to help. Their personal touch made the trip. Thank you, Steve and Catherine.

We booked at the last minute in September 25, and Jean-Pierre and his team welcomed us warmly. The place is a little outside the main tourist area of Grand Baie, so it was quiet, which we liked. Dinner on our first night was good value. The Butter Chicken was really good, and the homemade french fries were amazing. Breakfast had plenty of choices and was very good too, especially the banana bread, the best I’ve ever had. I mostly ate that. My wife and I each booked a relaxing 90 minutes massage with Élodie, at a great price. Gael made our final day special by showing us a bit of the area. Everyone was so friendly, and the whole staff was amazing. I’d definitely recommend staying here.

The room was damp, dirty, moldy, and had a terrible smell. There was no ventilation, so it felt like being trapped in a filthy box. The place is advertised with a terrace, but there wasn’t one. The rooms were bare and nothing like the listing, and there were no basic amenities. The “bathroom” was an open space beside the bed, so showering soaked everything. The location was poor too. You need a car or have to wait for a bus just to get to the nearest beach. The owners were rude and unhelpful, and the items listed on Booking.com weren’t actually in the room. They refused to provide even basic service. This was one of the worst places I’ve stayed. Avoid it unless you want to feel deceived and stuck in an airless room.

The warmth of the staff at Sous Le Badamier really touched us. The breakfast attendant was so kind and helpful, though I’m sorry I can’t remember her name. Jessen, the guest house attendant, was prompt, smart, caring, helpful, and knew the food well. His friendly manner made us all happy, and he was the best waiter we’ve had in Mauritius. We had a wonderful trip to Mauritius with friends and stayed at this cozy, homely guest house. The owners, John Pierre and Sarah, were lovely and very welcoming. Everyone looked after us so well. Excellent experience, highly recommended!
