The beach is just across the road, a lovely spot for watching the sunset. It’s shallow, so swimming may not be ideal, though I imagine kids would enjoy playing there. We also appreciated having private parking in the front yard, even if finding it on the first visit was a little tricky. We stayed three nights to explore this part of Mauritius. The location worked especially well for the nearby national parks and Le Morne Brabant. We loved hiking in the ebony forest, and it was a good base for our sunrise hike with Mauritius Explorer, which we were told is dangerous to do alone. Our hosts were kind and easy to reach whenever we needed them, while still giving us privacy. That mattered since the upper level isn’t completely closed off, though it didn’t bother us. The place was clean and pleasant, the food was wonderfully authentic, and communicating in French and English was easy. We loved our stay.

We only stayed one night, but wished we’d booked longer. The rooms and bathroom were clean, and breakfast was really good. We’d recommend the Résidence to friends back home looking for somewhere near Le Morne, and would stay here longer next time we’re in Mauritius.

The main issue for us was the lack of privacy. The apartment is upstairs in the family home, with no door or partition between the rented floor and the ground floor where the family lives. We could hear them, and they could hear us. There were also a lot of insects, from ants to little flies that got everywhere, and the nearby road could be noisy for anyone sensitive to traffic sounds. There were some good points too. The mother in the family was very nice, the beach is close, and the family tried to adjust breakfast to guests’ needs. There’s also Disney+ on the TV.

We spent two weeks with this lovely family and had such a good time. Mum made delicious breakfasts, and the room and other facilities were great. We’d happily come back, and we miss you all. Thank you so much 😘

The host family was wonderful, caring, and always ready to help. The apartment was spacious and super clean, and both breakfast and dinner were delicious. Such an amazing place to stay. Thank you for everything.
