Residence Mon Choisy

Sanjay at reception was a real help throughout our stay. He answered all the practical questions we had, from where to get cash and buy groceries to which bus to take. He also sorted out a few problems for us simply because he cared, and that made the trip much easier and more enjoyable. The apartments have kitchens equipped for cooking, including a coffee machine. Our room was spotless, and the cleanliness stayed excellent throughout. We had a wonderful time at Mon Choisy Beach R. - Apart’Hotel and would happily return. Highly recommended!

We ate really well at the food stalls beside Mon Choisy beach, especially L’île Cuisine – Chez Mario and Kiosque Magique. The beach is great for a swim or walk, and it was nice eating alongside the local community. You can also walk into town for restaurants. For groceries, the nearest shop is a bit farther away, but there’s a bus to Super U Grand Baie or a mini kiosk next door with water, beer, fruit and tasty freshly made fast food. The garden is beautifully kept, the pool is great, and the ocean view makes the place feel like a little paradise. The rooms are lovely and exceptionally clean, and housekeeping did a sincere job. We had a very helpful, smiling welcome from the staff throughout. If you drive, courtyard parking is available, with a public lot just outside if it’s full. Cindy can arrange car rental and tours on site, and the value seemed fair. The rental didn’t include full insurance, so there was an excess. A car isn’t essential, though: the bus stop is close, reception can explain the routes, and buses are frequent, cheap and sometimes quicker than driving. I’d pick an ocean view room if you can.

The garden was such a peaceful place to start the day, with lots of birds around, and the sunset deck and pool were a lovely welcome after exploring the island. The views at sunset are spectacular. Mon Choisy Beach is just a two-minute walk away, with direct access from the resort. We spent our 10 year anniversary here from 19 - 28 February 2026, and the accommodation exceeded our expectations. Our self-catering unit had what we needed to cook and was sparkling clean when we arrived. Shirley cleaned it beautifully each day, and her warm, bubbly way made a big impression. Trishna at reception greeted us with a smile, showed us around, and was always helpful with information. There’s a free guest laundry. Resort parking is first come, first served, but we used a safe public parking area about 20m away twice. We had a wonderful stay at Mon Choisy Beach R and would recommend it to anyone looking for beachside accommodation in Mauritius. We’ll look to book again when we return.

Mont Choisy Beach is right by the hotel and easy to reach, while Trou-Aux-Biches Beach is about a five-minute walk away. That one is also stunning, with more of a resort feel. The pool area is quiet and looks out toward Mont Choisy Beach, which seems popular with locals. Our room was clean and well equipped, with a private-feeling terrace overlooking the garden. The staff were friendly and seemed genuinely happy. It’s a lovely garden-style boutique hotel, ideal for a few days in the north, and I’d gladly visit again. There aren’t many shops or restaurants in the Mont Choisy area, and the hotel has limited options too. Continental breakfast is available, though we ate elsewhere. A taxi or a longer walk takes you to more choices, so those were the only drawbacks for us.
