La Maison dEté Hotel by Newmark

Roy and Nitin looked after us so well throughout our birthday weekend at La Maison d’Été. They were warm, attentive, and professional, and Hilary was wonderful too. Rose’s leadership clearly shows in the quality of the guest experience. I can’t name everyone, but the whole team helped make my birthday feel special. The food was a highlight as well. The prawn tempura was spot on, the surf and turf was delicious, and the vanilla crème brûlée was a lovely indulgent finish. Every meal felt like an experience. We’ll remember the stay fondly and look forward to returning.

The staff made my partner feel especially celebrated for her birthday, which meant a lot to me. We spent a family weekend at La Maison d’Été, and from the moment we arrived the team made us feel welcome. Mrs Rose, the General Manager, greeted us personally, a thoughtful touch. With children along, the small acts of care stood out, and the staff were consistently warm, professional, and attentive. Poste La Fayette is a beautiful setting, with some of the clearest water on the island and a charm that feels different from many other parts of Mauritius. The family had plenty to do, including kayaking, snorkelling, swimming in the pool, and playing darts. The food was excellent, and the atmosphere felt refined but still relaxed. It was just the kind of celebration I’d hoped for. We’d gladly return.

Our two weeks at La Maison D’Ete were a real treat. It has a stylish look and a relaxed feel, and the staff were generally great. Roy the waiter deserves a shout out, along with a couple of other people whose names we can’t remember. The cleaners went above and beyond too. One evening we came back to find the bed decorated romantically with prosecco, chocolate, a swan shaped towel, and petals. Such a nice surprise. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner were all good quality, with lots of delicious choices at breakfast. A few things could be improved. Some menu items weren’t available on several days, the mocktail list was limited for my pregnant partner, and a couple of the waiting staff might benefit from more training. The floor in our room was warping and parts of the room could use a refresh. Otherwise, we loved the place. We’re writing this at the airport and are very sad to be leaving. The half-board package was good value for us. La Maison D'Été is a small hotel along the coastal road at Poste La Fayette, Flacq, with a panoramic view of the beach and sea. There’s also a shop or mini market across the road. It’s a secluded-feeling place that would suit a weekend with your close ones, and the setting makes for nice Instagram pictures. Our room was modern and cozy, including the bathroom, and had a balcony facing the ocean and a mini bar. The staff welcomed us with fresh pineapple juice and were helpful throughout. Food and drinks were very good. Non-drinkers can have fresh juice or mocktails. We had no complaints about our dishes, which included fried giant shrimps, chicken Alfredo linguini, and grilled chicken with jollof rice. The lounge is cozy and chic, with a café area, piano, small library, board games, carrom, scrabble, darts, and 8-ball pool. The hotel also offers spa services and water-based activities. Parking is a downside. There isn’t a proper lot, so we parked on the roadside, though it was right outside the hotel and there’s a guard house. The lounge also needs better cooling. There’s no A/C or ceiling fan, and it can feel hot and humid by the sea even with the breeze and open windows. One thing caught us off guard. When we went to dinner around 9 pm, room service cleaned and made our bed without telling us. It’s a nice service, but we’d never had a hotel clean our room that late unless we’d asked, and we’d left our things out in the open. Nothing was stolen, which says something good about the hotel’s security.
