L’Ilot

Villa L’îlot felt like a hidden paradise on its own secluded islet, surrounded by a peaceful lagoon and lush greenery. It was an unforgettable stay, a lovely fit for couples or families, with or without kids. The villa combines a five-star hotel’s luxury with personal service that makes you feel looked after, and I travel a lot without having experienced anything quite like it. Emile and Sonia, our villa hosts, were attentive without hovering and went above and beyond. I’d forgotten my swimsuit, and Emile made the long trip to bring it back to us. Sonia had also found out I liked a particular chocolate treat and arranged for the team to leave some as a welcome gift. They seemed to know what we liked before we arrived. My boyfriend is from France, but I don’t speak French. The staff speak French and English, and thoughtfully gave him a dinner menu in French and me one in English. Dinner under a big tree, with candles everywhere, was perfect. Chef Tessa and Chef Vicky made the food a highlight. Tessa’s three-course dinner was a masterpiece, and Vicky’s floating breakfast the next morning was a heavenly way to start the day. We loved both. We stayed for 10 nights and the staff took great care of us. We’d planned to cook, but once we tried the meals available on site, that idea was over. The front patio deck has loads of places to sit, depending on whether you want sun, a breeze, both, or neither. The ocean is just down a staircase if you get warm. In the mornings and evenings, the sparrows were lovely to listen to and a nice cue for sundowner time. Great place and team. We’ll definitely be back.

There’s nowhere else like Villa l'îlot on Mauritius, and perhaps only a few places like it anywhere in the world. It’s a magical villa on its own little island. Sonia was an incredible host, helping us before we arrived and throughout our stay to make the whole experience beautiful and unforgettable.

The rooms at L'ilot are comfortable and cozy rather than especially luxurious, but with ocean and tropical landscape views like these, we spent most of our time outside enjoying the breeze and sunshine. The villa also felt very safe and secure throughout our stay, and the staff looked after everything we needed. The muse villas team and the L'ilot staff made us feel at home as soon as we arrived. They were on hand with answers and suggestions for things to see and do around the island, and went above and beyond to make the trip enjoyable. My stay at L'ilot by Muse Villas on Mauritius was one of the best vacations I’ve had, and I’d highly recommend it to families or friends looking for a comfortable, safe, and memorable break.
