Le Flamboyant Hotel

It’s only my first day, but I already feel uncomfortable here. The room I was given fell short of what I expected, and I’m not satisfied with it. The air conditioning doesn’t work, there’s a bad smell that made me buy air freshener, the tiles are broken, and the mini bar won’t cool. It seems guests who got rooms in the renovated part of the hotel are the only ones having a good stay.

Despite the attractive location, my stay at Le Flamboyant Hotel (Rodrigues) was far below expectations. The pool was in bad shape, there were bad odors and fungus in the corners, and the rooms had cockroaches and seemed prone to ants. Staff repeatedly ignored requests, served very small portions, and didn't deal with basic problems promptly. Their attitude felt unwelcoming. There was no water or soft drinks available at the hotel, not even with dinner. The poor attention and inadequate service made for a disappointing stay.

The food quality wasn't worth rating, and there was no hospitality at all. Some of the staff in the dining hall were rude, and it felt as if they didn't like Mauritians. In the room, the bathroom doors and locks were broken and the toilets smelled bad. Room service was poor, and towels weren't changed each day unless I asked again and again.

The food was another problem: dinner was chicken and fish every day, served in rationed portions despite being presented as an open buffet. At breakfast, only one person was serving crepes. My family and I also got sick after drinking the juice, tea and coffee. We stayed for five days, but the service was very bad throughout. My room's air conditioner didn't work, the bathroom was clogged, and although I complained at reception, nothing was done. Towels weren't changed as they were supposed to be, and the area around the 'pool' smelled bad. Hotel le flamboyant doesn't feel like a hotel at all, more like a guest house. I certainly wouldn't recommend it.
