Breadfruit, mango and coconut palms right outside the room made the setting feel very Mauritian. We had a pleasant stay in this spacious, rustic fishing village place in Trou d'Eau Deuce on the East Coast. It's basic, but the friendly, charming owner knows the area and is easy to talk to. Two well-stocked supermarkets are just across the road, along with a chemist and a pizzeria. The ferry boats to ile aux ceuf are within walking distance. A good spot if you want an easygoing, laid-back vibe.

The owner was very friendly and the price was low, but the apartment we stayed in was dirty and very basic. There were two different apartments, and ours looked nothing like the photos. The quality matched the low price.
