La Pearl Mathiveri

We only discovered this place during our last two days, otherwise we’d have eaten here many more times. We didn’t stay at the hotel, just had dinner at the terrace restaurant, and it was a wonderful meal. The view is beautiful, and the terrace is the highest on the island, giving it a special atmosphere. The food was excellent, easily the best restaurant on the island in our view, even though it seems less known. The Sri Lankan waiter was especially kind, explained each dish and how it was prepared, and was always smiling. We’d happily recommend it.

The shower water had a horrible smell, honestly like human poop. Staff said it was normal and suggested waiting a few minutes for the smell to start, but it never went away during our three nights. The hotel’s location is fine, and the staff are welcoming and kind. Breakfast was good, and the rooftop terrace has a stunning view. They’ll do as much as they can to help if you need anything. I’d rate the stay three stars.

The rooftop eatery is handy for meals, and the building feels clean and new. Prices are reasonable for the area, and the staff are consistently friendly with decent English. The view is amazing, and the beach is only a short walk away. I already miss the place!

The people at La Pearl made us feel like family, greeting us with smiles and cheerfully doing their best to meet our needs. The hotel itself is newly built and beautifully designed, with a pleasant atmosphere and a rooftop that’s perfect for relaxing while taking in breathtaking views. The food was wonderful, every meal felt like a gift. Mathiveri Island has lovely natural scenery and a peaceful feel, and La Pearl was an excellent place to stay. We can’t wait to return.
