Leaf fish guesthouse

Keyodhoo in the Vaavu Atoll is a lovely little getaway and still feels like a hidden gem in the Maldives. Leaf Fish is a newer guesthouse, right on the water, that’s very clean and thoughtfully designed. The service made the stay even better, and I wouldn’t look anywhere else for a place to stay.

The owner was so kind and helpful, arranging excursions and dinner for us. We had a very relaxing stay in nice rooms close to the beach, with beach chairs and coffee tables right beside the waves. Highly recommended.

We spent 13 nights here as a family, my wife, our daughter, and me. It was a happy, relaxing stay, and our daughter even made a friend her own age. The staff and local people were so warm and kind, and we loved chatting with them. Abdulla, our host, looked after us wonderfully and served delicious food. The room was clean and cozy, and felt like home. We spent plenty of time on the hammocks and lounge chairs, taking in sunrises and sunsets together. There’s a private beach right outside, where you can swim, snorkel, sunbathe, or fish from shore. We often saw black tip sharks, stingrays, and nurse sharks nearby. It felt like living beside an aquarium. The house reef is also right in front, with colorful corals and all kinds of reef fish. We sometimes spotted sea turtles and dolphins close to shore. Abdulla is a professional diver, and he took us snorkeling and taught us about the marine life. When dolphins came close one day, he spontaneously took us by boat to swim with them. We’ll never forget it. As someone who fishes around the world, I can say Abdulla is the best fishing guide I’ve met. He’s skilled, professional, and truly loves fishing. He shared local shore fishing tips and took me on several trips tailored for me, including GT sport fishing and a family-friendly fishing trip. With his help, I caught my target, a 10kg GT, as well as grouper, emperor fish, tuna, wahoo, and more. It was thrilling and memorable. The guesthouse also organized a trip to a sandbank, and the views were breathtaking. That’s one of the most unforgettable memories of our lives. We highly recommend Leaf fish guesthouse if you’re visiting Keyodhoo or the Maldives, and we’re already looking forward to returning.

Erika, Abdullah, and the staff took great care of us during our two weeks at this small, personal guesthouse. They fulfilled every wish we had. We got to know the island, learned about its culture, and met lovely local people. Each day brought local fruit and delicious traditional meals. The guesthouse is well located, with direct access to the beach and sea, where we could see sharks, rays, and fish up close. A beautiful coral reef is just a few metres away, perfect for snorkeling or diving and exploring the underwater life. I’d highly recommend staying here if you want to experience Maldivian culture and the country’s natural beauty.
