W Maldives

The evenings with a live singer and the laid-back daytime DJ set a lovely mood. We also really enjoyed the fresh seafood and flavors at FISH RESTAURANT, and snorkeling around the island was superb, with clear water, colorful coral, and plenty of marine life. From arrival, all our stress seemed to disappear. The service was attentive and excellent, but still relaxed, and the staff were genuinely friendly. It made everything feel easy. W Maldives was a lovely place to unwind, and we’d happily return.

The reef has a gentle slope and the water was calm, so snorkeling felt safe to me. We could easily spot turtles, sharks, and schools of sardines. The underwater scenery wasn’t the very best I’ve seen, but it’s still among the Maldives’ top natural spots. I think families with children could enjoy it too. W Maldives has a more energetic, party-like feel than the other Maldives resorts I’ve visited. People were cheerful and easy to talk to, and it felt like making friends. Traveling alone wouldn’t feel lonely here, I joked that you’d leave with 300 new friends. I had a great time talking with everyone and hearing their stories, though I wish I could remember all their names. Thanks to Ciske and Dream at Kitchen, Lin at Fish, and Mark at the Gym. I’m grateful as well to the engineer who explained desalination to me and the photographer who took such great pictures. I also enjoyed learning about Bangladesh from a Bangladeshi staff member and chatting about K-dramas with someone in the lobby. Thanks to all the staff for making the stay so pleasant. I hope we meet again.

The staff were so happy to help, and everyone seemed to be enjoying life. They kept surprising us with small treats: drinks and snacks at the bar, lollipops, and even a sea turtle teddy bear. The room had more than we needed, the weather was amazing, and the water was warm. Such a happy, amazing stay. Come see it for yourself and live stress free.

The staff were the best part of our stay. Everyone was warm, attentive, and helpful, and requests were taken care of within minutes without the hospitality feeling forced. Aiham and Ameen from the hotel team, and Adam at The Kitchen, made things feel especially welcoming. I also appreciated how the team arranged one of the most private villas possible for us, since privacy for my wife mattered a lot to me as a Muslim traveler. The island is a good size, lively but not overcrowded or chaotic, and the beaches looked just like the pictures, with beautiful sand and crystal clear, colorful water. I’d rate W Maldives 8/10. The villas were comfortable and nice, though the interiors weren’t mind blowing luxury, about 7.5/10 for the rooms in my view. Food was good, but the restaurants could improve their look and dining experience. Not everything is included in the HB/FB packages either, so costs can add up quickly. The spa was a weak spot: its area and treatment rooms felt outdated, and the therapists didn’t meet the level I expected from this kind of resort. The private sunset island experience was unforgettable. We were dropped on an island with nobody else there. The setup could be better, but the views and atmosphere made up for it. For my first Maldives trip, it was memorable and delivered. One thing I’d tell future guests is to account for the seaplane wait. My flight from Abu Dhabi was at 8:50 AM; after almost 4 hours of travel, I reached Male around 1:30 PM, expecting the ride to the resort to take the mentioned 25 minutes. Instead, we waited almost 3 additional hours at Male airport, since seaplane schedules depend on arrivals from several international flights and resorts. I finally reached the resort around 6 PM, so most of my first day was gone, especially given the premium paid per night. Would I come back? Maybe. I’d also like to explore other islands and resorts in the Maldives.
