We’d always chosen resorts reachable from the airport by speedboat, but this was our first Maldives trip that needed a domestic flight. The journey was absolutely worth it. From May 2 to 6, our stay at The Halcyon Private Isles was memorable. The lagoon beach is stunning, the marine life is a joy to explore, and there’s an incredible variety of fish and underwater scenery. We also loved relaxing in the large private villa pool. The team made the stay special by anticipating our needs, noticing every detail and being available whenever we needed help. Their genuine hospitality made us feel so welcome. A special thank you to the chef for thoughtfully adapting meals to our preferences and dietary requirements. Every meal felt personal and carefully prepared. Thank you to the whole team for such warm hospitality.

Getting to The Halcyon meant a 16-hour flight from Korea, then a seaplane and speedboat. It was physically exhausting, but this was the best healing holiday we’ve ever had, in any country. At the airport, the staff guided us to the lounge to rest and have a light meal before the flight and boat transfers. When we stepped off the speedboat, everyone welcomed us with music and applause. They all felt genuinely warm and full of love, haha. We stayed in a Water Villa, and the emerald ocean outside looked unreal, almost like CGI. The bedding was incredibly comfortable, and the room was cleaner than any other hotel we’ve stayed at. Housekeeping timed the room makeups perfectly while we were out for activities, so we could relax as soon as we returned. Azzam showed us around the island and joined us for dinner. He was professional and sweet, and even taught us about the constellations. The food was phenomenal. Thari had an incredible variety, and Josh made every breakfast a joy. I can’t remember the name of our dinner server, but they were lovely and kind. Our butler, Zaha, looked after us 24/7 and was kinder than anyone could be. Thank you again for making such unforgettable memories for us. This was my second visit to the Maldives, and if I come a third time, I’ll choose The Halcyon Resort again. With just 38 villas, we felt like we had the resort to ourselves. The layout, space and pace made for top tier privacy, whether we were at the reef, on the beach or out fishing. The island is intimate and stunning, almost like a world of its own, and the outside world seemed to disappear as soon as we arrived. The two house reefs were the best reef experience we’ve had in the Maldives. We spent whole days in the water, sometimes exploring on our own and sometimes with Peter, the resident marine biologist, whose knowledge and enthusiasm made every session more interesting. We saw hawksbill turtles, blacktip and whitetip sharks, nurse sharks, eagle rays and stingrays in incredible abundance. The reef alone made the trip worthwhile. Our villa was huge and beautifully designed, but still warm and cozy. The details felt thoughtful without being overdone, and the space had a great mix of luxury and comfort. We used every bit of it. The restaurants had impressive variety, with chefs focused on Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Italian, Thai and other cuisines. Every meal felt carefully thought out, and we ate incredibly well every day. The service was what really made The Halcyon stand out. Our butler, Miru, noticed even small details and would quietly surprise us with favorite fruits and snacks without needing to be asked. We felt truly cared for, with the right balance of attentiveness and space. Every staff member treated us like old friends, and their warmth felt real. We caught 23 fish in one big game fishing session, including two 20kg yellowfin tuna. The crew knew where to take us, and we had the spot to ourselves. The Halcyon is one of the best vacations we’ve ever had, and it doesn’t need to shout about what it offers. It’s surprisingly under-reviewed and underrated, which may be part of its appeal.

I arrived at The Halcyon Private Isles Maldives Resort with high expectations, and the stay exceeded them. The service was phenomenal, even by the high standards of Maldives resorts. Our butler, Zaha, made sure everything was just right and that our needs were taken care of. I’d definitely come back.
