Acacia Beach Hotel

Madara was fantastic and helped me track down my lost mobile phone. The staff were good, and the food was decent enough. Nice place, and I'd recommend staying here.

I was only here for about 4-5 hours to sleep before a very early flight, so this is a quick impression. Check-in was fast even though we arrived close to midnight, and the staff were still up and helpful. The room was okay and the bed comfortable, but the shower never really got hot, just lukewarm. I was tired and fell asleep right away. In the morning they called us a taxi for the airport, about 15 minutes away. We didn't use anything else, and it was too early for breakfast.

We couldn't eat at all, though they still brought us the MVR 1159 bill and asked if we'd take the untouched food away. We said no. We'd gone to Acacia restaurant on the hotel's top floor, ordered several dishes, and were chatting with our daughter when I saw a huge rat dart by the corner of my eye. It hid beneath the buffet table's black cloth. I'm terrified of rats, so I told the waitress I couldn't stay. She didn't even check, just kept setting the table and bringing our food, then said, “Maybe it’ll not come now.” Her reaction made it seem like this had happened before. We ran downstairs, and they agreed to bring the food down, though they looked annoyed. At reception, staff said it was new for the rat to be in the restaurant area, which left me wondering if rats were normal elsewhere in the hotel. Absolutely unacceptable. Never going back. Save your money and avoid this place!

Arpita was great and handled everything over the phone. But the night itself was rough. In room 201, someone outside was talking loudly at 4am, then kept chatting on his balcony until 6:30am, with a rooster crowing too. There were also loud vibrations from outside, possibly the air con compressors in the next building. The room and bed were basic, but manageable. Still, I slept better and got better service at hotel h78 two weeks ago.
