LemonRock Comfort

The setting was calm, and the convenient location made for an easy short stay. My room was comfortable, clean, and well looked after. The friendly staff were always willing to help, and I felt it was good value for the money. I’d recommend Lemonrock Comfort for a comfortable short visit.

My main gripe was all the sharp corners. With so little room, I kept bumping my legs and head on them. Ouch! Still, I’d stay again. The room is small, but thoughtfully equipped: a safe, fridge, hair dryer, kettle, sink and pantry, a very large TV, toothbrush and toothpaste, plus toiletries including shampoo, conditioner, and body lotion. It really feels like the owner has considered every detail. I hadn’t requested an airport pickup, but I let them know I’d be arriving at Male airport at 10:30pm and asked them to hold the room. Staff surprised me by meeting me there and helping find a taxi at a fair price. One driver was asking too much, so she passed on that one and found a ride for 100 MVR, the late-night public holiday price. Another staff member was waiting by Eyecare Hospital to carry my bags and walk me to the hotel. Tell the driver Eyecare Hospital when you’re heading there. For buses, look for West Park bus stop. You can catch one to the airport or Hulhumale Beach for MVR10 per trip.

There’s no restaurant or dining option, and after factoring in the high price, I don’t think the hotel offers good value. I wouldn’t recommend it, even though the staff were helpful. My biggest issue was the lack of real windows. The rooms have a fake one that opens onto a gap between walls, with no natural light at all. As someone who’s claustrophobic, I think that’s something the hotel should disclose publicly, but it wasn’t mentioned on booking.com or google. When I asked for a room with a window, staff said they all have the same layout. The installed lights are bright white, and not being able to tell what time of day it is felt unsettling. I’m not sure I’d call that “luxury”. The hotel sits down a narrow alley with little ventilation, and the walls are so thin I could almost hear people breathing in the next room. The towels smelled musty and needed replacing. There are much better places in Male.

The reception team deserves special thanks for their great attitude and service! 🫶🏻 They arranged a direct car transfer to the airport, and the room had everything I needed. The hotel is decent for a one-night stop, but the rooms are small and I wouldn’t suggest staying longer. My view was of the neighboring building, which I expected given how densely built the area is. There aren’t many places to eat nearby, and a good restaurant is around a 20-minute walk away.
