RIJ Hulhumale Guest House

I'm Anjali from Sri Lanka 🇱🇰. I flew to Male for the surprise birthday party of a wonderful woman I call Mumma ❤️. I checked out of Hotel Rij in Hullumale in all the excitement, leaving behind my pp, some jewellery, and Mumma's birthday gift. When I rushed back in a taxi with my friend's son, everything was still there, including the pp. I'm speechless and so grateful to the honest staff who helped me get my misplaced valuables back.

The staff, especially the manager, were kind and friendly, but my three-night stay was frustrating and uncomfortable. In Room 102, constant motorcycle and road noise came through, and I could hear the street and other rooms clearly, making it hard to relax or sleep. After I complained, I was moved to Room 101. Its bathroom window faced nearby buildings without cover, and I saw a man in another tower looking directly in. I noticed before showering, then had to cover the window myself with tape and a blanket. Guests shouldn't have to deal with that privacy problem. Breakfast ran only from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM, which was inconvenient when trying to sleep in on vacation. One hour felt too short and rushed. The transport arrangement was the worst part. I booked a car and told them twice on the phone and three times in person that I needed it before 3:20 PM for a launch at 4:00 PM. They agreed each time, and when I called again that day to confirm, they said there was no problem. But when I returned with my bags and asked where the car was, I was told the driver couldn't come that day. Nobody had warned me, leaving no time to calmly arrange another ride. I rushed to find a taxi and barely made it, arriving at the launch at 4:03 PM, just before it departed. After all those confirmations, this was incredibly stressful and unprofessional. I hope management takes this seriously. The bathroom privacy needs fixing with frosted glass or blinds, the rooms need soundproofing, breakfast hours should be extended for vacation schedules, and guest bookings need to be honored, with honest communication if something goes wrong. Until these major issues are addressed, I can't recommend the property to anyone seeking peace, privacy, or reliable service.

The hotel replied quickly to all our requests, and the service was great. Our room was spacious and had what we needed. Shops, the beach, coffee shops, and all sorts of restaurants were nearby, including Italian, Indian, and Arabic places.

RIJ is a smaller hotel, but its central spot made it easy to reach restaurants and the city's essential amenities, and the packages were good value. Mr. Naflan and the team were attentive from the moment we arrived, keeping everything organized and our itinerary running smoothly. We had a wonderful experience with them on our Maldives trip, and highly recommend RIJ for a memorable visit.
