Starry View Guest house

We felt misled by Starry View, and the whole billing experience was frustrating. We asked for an invoice when we checked in, but were told it would come the next morning. By then, no staff were available to discuss the overcharge. If we'd had the invoice earlier, we could have paid by card instead of using the inflated cash rate. We were told card payment came with a 3.5% fee, so we chose to pay in USD cash. They used an exchange rate of 1 USD = 18 MVR rather than the standard 1 USD = 16.4 MVR. At the standard rate, the bill should have been around 1822 MVR, but we were charged 2000 MVR, about $11 USD extra. They also seemed to convert the amount more than once, adding further cost. Altogether, we paid $135 USD, with 2000 MVR in cash and $5 by card. That was $19 more than our confirmed booking amount of $116.10 USD. Knowing this in advance, we'd have paid by card despite the 3.5% fee. The unclear communication made the unfair billing worse. We can't recommend the property unless it addresses these issues and communicates with guests more honestly.

The staff were amazing, and the guest house is only a three-minute walk from the beach. It was very affordable, with free airport transfers. Breakfast was basic, but good enough for the price.

We loved our stay at Starry view. It's a small hotel, but really neat and clean, and the staff service was top notch. They provide free airport pick-up and drop-off. Breakfast was bread, sausage, egg, and juice.

The airport transfer went smoothly and the room was clean, but I definitely wouldn't recommend this hotel if you need somewhere to rest. The elevator bell rang loudly and so often that I couldn't sleep for even a minute. I asked the front desk for help, but they said nothing could be done. It was a complete disaster. There's also a tiny window just a few centimeters from the next building.
