Kuri Inn

The islanders and guesthouse team were friendly, and the staff were always helpful. It takes about an hour and a half by speedboat to get there. I enjoyed the food and would suggest eating at the guesthouse, since there aren’t cafes or restaurants with kids’ menus. The manager was very friendly and did his best to keep guests happy. They offer diving, snorkeling trips with a sandbank, sunset fishing, and dolphin safaris. Whale sharks and manta rays may be part of the snorkeling trips if you’re lucky. There’s a nice beach, and the uninhabited part of the island has a perfect sunset. Ooredoo is a good choice for better connectivity and online service in the Maldives. I had a wonderful time. Keep up the good work.

Ismael made the logistics easy from the moment we arrived, meeting us at the dock and getting our luggage to the room. When our three nights ended, he had arranged the 6am speedboat to Male and came by early to help with the bags and see us off. He was a perfect host, making sure we were comfortable. We paid $115 a night including 22% tax and three meals a day, during our January 2015 visit. Kuri Inn was the third of our four island stops on a 23-day Maldives trip. The buffet meals were clearly the best of the four: usually rice, noodles, curries, fried chicken or fish, bread, and dessert. The rooms were spacious, with large attached bathrooms, Wi-Fi, and a/c. There was no television in the room, though one was outside in a shared terrace area. The inn sits inland on Omadhoo, so you can’t see or hear the ocean from there. The island was small, pleasant, fairly clean, and lush. A picturesque sandbar beach is a couple hundred meters away, with a swimmable lagoon on either side, shade by the trees, and old S-shaped fiberglass loungers. The inn also provided an umbrella. We didn’t snorkel there because the reef looked far away and we couldn’t see an obvious way through the coral. One practical tip from our time in the Maldives: flip-flops were the easiest footwear, since locals wore them everywhere and you have to remove your shoes before entering buildings. You’re constantly taking them off and putting them back on, and flip-flops make that simple without having to bend down and get your hands dirty.

New Year gets really busy in the Maldives, but Nasha at Kuri Inn looked after us and helped us enjoy lovely Omadhoo Island. Nasha arranged a great outing to look for Manta Rays, and we saw four. The whale shark dived away just as we jumped off the boat, though. Maybe you’ll have better luck if you go!

Sifaz and Wishav were so kind and friendly, and the day trips with them were well cared for. They made what was already one of our best holidays even better. The accommodation is definitely among the best on the island. Thanks so much, and I hope to see these guys again.
