Villa Kudì Maldives Guest House Thulusdhoo

The location is great, near the beach, and the staff were mostly friendly and helpful. We appreciated that they arranged a visit to the Coca-Cola factory. Still, our experience at Villa Kudi was mixed. On our last day in the lobby, we saw what looked like mice moving around in or near the kitchen. The team took preventive steps after we told them, but we no longer felt comfortable eating breakfast there. The owner’s explanation didn’t reassure us, which was disappointing. The place has potential, though this issue affected our stay. I hope cleanliness and communication improve for future guests.

We stayed at Villa Kudi in Thulusdhoo as five people from 2-4 April, with two rooms costing MVR 1500 per night. We’d expected a decent stay from the online reviews, but were very disappointed and wouldn’t rely on those reviews alone. The rooms felt unsafe and poorly finished. The wooden furniture and floors were rough, with edges that could hurt someone. They also weren’t properly maintained, and we found cockroaches and flies. Towels were uncomfortable and rough, no basic toiletries such as shower gel were provided, and there was no hair dryer even in the family room. We asked for a blanket, but staff didn’t bring one. Getting into the guesthouse was a hassle. We received a code for the electronic lock instead of key cards, and it often failed, leaving us locked out several times until we called staff. Check-in involved a long wait. Staff held one of our ID cards because it had expired and didn’t let us access the room during that time. The water was unpleasant too. There was only well water, not proper tap water, and it smelled strongly. Breakfast was poor: the advertised “fresh juice” wasn’t fresh, the coffee was low quality, and the butter tasted spoiled or expired. We didn’t feel much hospitality from the staff, who weren’t friendly or willing to help. After we’d already stayed a full day, we were asked to sign an agreement, and we were pressured about it again at checkout. The experience fell far below expectations and didn’t feel welcoming, especially for locals. It wasn’t worth the price, and I’d advise others to be cautious.

The staff were attentive and helpful, and their service was the best part. Breakfast was incredibly good, the rooms were very clean, and it’s just a five-minute walk to the beach. The best place to stay on the island!
