A special thank you to Smarika for taking care of my breakfast. Her kindness made every day start well. I’m also grateful to the hosts for upgrading my room at no extra cost so I could enjoy natural light. The staff clearly put effort into making my stay pleasant, and I salute their genuinely hospitable attitude.

Mandy made it feel like a real welcome, and she’s one of the loveliest people I’ve met. She’s also very organized and helpful when planning excursions, and her staff are sweet and forthcoming. Beach Veli is a charming guesthouse, with a terrific spot on the island’s west side. The ocean is just 10 metres across the road, and the beach has both sunshine and plenty of shade. The rooms are simple but impeccably clean. Breakfast was delicious, with a choice of Western or Maldivian food. Mandy can also arrange a BBQ with local fish if you ask. I really hope I can return next year!

I was obsessed with the breakfast. I had the Maldivian option every day and loved it so much that I even got to see how it was prepared. The sandbank tour is an absolute must, so don’t hesitate. Mandy was incredible from the first moment, making me feel welcome and at home. She keeps the place in great shape, was there whenever needed, and is just a lovely person. Everything else worked for me too. The location couldn’t be better and the facilities were great, though I wish I’d spent more time in the hammock. I also liked the sustainability initiatives. I’ll definitely be back! :)

The Maldivian breakfast, Mas Huni, was the best I had during my whole time in the Maldives. I miss it! There are other breakfast options too. Mandy and Beach Veli also try to cut down on plastic, with cold water in glass bottles and large refillable soap and shampoo containers in the bathrooms. We loved the manta snorkel and the sandbar trip, and Mandy gave expert advice on excursions at great prices. Our front-facing room was bright, very quiet, and comfortable. The beach right in front has both sun and shade, and snorkeling there was super. We saw turtles, starfish, and even some sharks. Beach Veli felt like the perfect home base on Ukulhas. Mandy is a fantastic resource and made the stay wonderful. If you’re staying on the island, this is your spot!
