Veligandu Maldives Resort Island Resort

Dilara was a lovely host. Every morning she texted us the weather, the day’s activities and our bookings, and was always friendly, responsive and helpful. Nabeel also did a great job cleaning our villa each day and worked hard to keep it in good shape. The villas are modern, having been built only last year, but still feel cozy. We loved the spa, padel court, games room, main pool, bars and restaurants. Teppanyaki was incredible, though it’s not part of the all-inclusive package, as advertised. Get the app before you arrive to book restaurants, since they fill up fast. I’d researched resort islands a lot for our ten-day honeymoon, and Veligandu really delivered. I didn’t want to leave and will definitely come back. My one complaint is the coffee in the Maldives, it’s not very good, so order a triple shot!

Minha was a lovely host, and I especially appreciated her telling us about the Maldives and local culture. The staff were professional and attentive, the food was delicious, and the gorgeous beach and water activities were a highlight. Veligandu is clean, safe, modern and premium, with a really relaxing feel. We had a wonderful time on the beautiful island and highly recommend this little paradise.

The sea, food, facilities and staff were all fantastic at this amazing resort. Wendy was especially friendly and helpful. It was a wonderful stay, and I hope I can come back soon!

For our last beach dinner, Lakmal found us a perfect table and kept checking that we had what we needed. He knew it was our final one and made sure we got some photos to remember it by. We were also there for the first day of the festive celebrations, and the food market and its huge choice of food were incredible. The atmosphere felt so special. Our three trips with the dive centre were great too. The team were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Turtle snorkelling with Ali and Sara (I hope I have her name right) was a real highlight. Sara, a trained marine biologist, was calm, patient and informative. I’m not a strong swimmer, and panicked when my snorkel started playing up. She settled me, fixed it and made sure I felt safe and confident. We ended up seeing turtles, eagle rays and even sharks. We came to celebrate my 30th birthday, and the island was stunning. The staff made the trip, with so much thought and kindness, and kept everything spotless. Minha, our lifestyle host, sorted our bookings, kept us informed and was always there for questions. When my partner surprised me halfway through with an upgrade to a sea villa, she handled the move while we were snorkelling. We returned to find everything done, and she’d even lent us her own flippers. It all felt effortless, and we really appreciated how well she looked after us. Sunil, one of the gardeners, greeted us each morning with a huge smile and asked about our plans and the day before. His friendliness and energy were infectious, and made our mornings lovely. The food was brilliant every night, and the chefs were accommodating. Our private dinner was especially memorable: the chef and our waiter came out and sang “Happy Birthday,” and the meal was incredible. Even on bed and breakfast, breakfast felt like a treat, with lots of variety and high quality food. The restaurant staff were friendly, and we looked forward to seeing Lakmal, who had only recently joined. He was one of the nicest people we met and went out of his way to make things special. All the people at Veligandu made this an unforgettable trip. Please pass our thanks to everyone we mentioned and the behind-the-scenes team as well.
